How to get there?

Huemules - Reserva de Montaña

Estancia Huemules Located 23 kilometers from the city of Esquel, with 7 weekly flights and 300 km from Bariloche, with more than 15 daily flights.

From Esquel. Exit via Av. Fontana towards Laguna La Zeta, walk along the 12kms gravel road to the town of Aldea Rio Percy. After crossing a bridge over the Percy River, the mountain road begins, narrower and with greater slopes, of 7kms until arriving at Estancia Huemules. Along this road you will find wooden signs with the Huemules logo to indicate the route.

This second stage of the route does not present major detours and ends in the gate of the Estancia, so it is not possible to get lost. It starts at the river crossing the village and goes into the forest of Lenga as it is gaining height. When you get to the Estancia gatehouse you will find a sign for "Huemules - Reserva de Montaña". Open (and then close) the gate and continue on the road, for another 3kms. This section is almost entirely within the forest and to get there you must cross two streams: the first in a curve, only a couple of inches deep and the second and a few meters from our reception. This last stream is of a larger size, but can be crossed without major difficulties. After passing it, you will reach the Huemules parking lot.

In summer season the road is accessible in any type of vehicle, although we always recommend driving at low speed, as it is irregular and winding. The travel time from the city of Esquel is between 40 minutes and an hour, through a long valley first and then entering the mountain and the Andean Patagonian forest. Arriving in Huemules is already part of the experience, do not miss this stage!

The entrance to Huemules is only with previous reservation, both for accommodation and for the Mountain Day. In winter, prior coordination is always necessary. We offer transfers from the Airport, Esquel, Bariloche and surroundings. Do not hesitate to contact us to coordinate it.
